It’s a Beautiful Day

Nothing like some nitrous oxide and Novocaine to make everything seem wonderful.  Yep, my oft-put oral surgery was performed this morning.  I just knew that the hardest part of the procedure was going to be just waking up in time.  Apparently the surgeon is a vampire (in more ways than one).  He told me that yesterday he did his first procedure at 5:30am.  I don’t even think that Roosters are up that early.  Well, certainly not if I were a Rooster.

I don’t know about these painkillers he gave me though.  I’m taking them on schedule.  Not that I’m in excruciating pain, but it’s there.  Perhaps if I consider what it might be feeling like if I didn’t take the painkillers I might have a different outlook.  There, I feel MUCH better now :)
The good news is that he was able to complete the entire procedure today.  There was some doubt as the fear was that my jawbone was too narrow at that point and he’d have to do a bone graft first.  That would have to heal for six months before the implants could be done.  Apparently I have a good jaw bone, and he was able to put in the implants.  He also did some bone grafts around the area to make my smile more aesthetically pleasing.  I was hoping I was going to get the bones of someone famous.  I asked him who they came from, and was told a bovine.  If I start moo-ing, we’re all in trouble.  Especially me.  But, then again, it might be possible for me to produce enough milk to feed our family.  Always have to look on the bright side of things.  I wonder if that’s the nitrous oxide still talking, or not.  Moo.
