I Can’t Believe it’s Friday Already

This week just flew by.  I think with the boys off from school it threw off our entire routine.  Thank goodness we’re back on a normal schedule starting tomorrow morning.  Not that we don’t like having the boys home…. ummm … .yes, not that we don’t like having the boys home, it’s just that the little ones need their edumucation sos they can get smart, get good jobz, and move out.  Ok, I can’t believe that I really typed that.

How come when I went to school… ok, it was the Dark Ages, we were lucky to get one day off a year, Christmas (what, there were no Jewish Holidays?  I think it was the coalition of Chinese Restaurant owners that lobbied for the schools to close on Jewish Holidays), excluding of course the 10 weeks that we got off for summer break… where we were promptly shipped off to sleep-away camp for eight of those weeks.  Not that I’m complaining of course… except for the one year that my Grandmother thought I would look very cute in these striped socks that made me look like a clown and the target of cruel barbs for a few weeks before she thankfully sent me some nice black dress socks in a care package… She totally redeemed herself by stuffing each sock with oodles of chocolate (love ya Grams!), that I hid from all the other campers and secretly enjoyed for weeks on end by myself.

But now it seems that the kids have more half days and days off from school than they attend school.  Perhaps kids are smarter today than we were and take less time to learn their lessons.  After all, what’s more important than a few extra hours, days, playing video games and watching TV?

Perhaps the youth of this world will figure out a way not to have to work to earn a living… and heaven help us… no.  I cannot even bring myself to say it.
