  • Random Acts of Kindness
Posted on Tuesday, December 9th, 2008 in children - Views: (41)
Wouldn’t it be just wonderful if everyone committed at least one random act of kindness?  Especially at the holiday season when everyone seems to forget what the holidays are all about.  What greater gift can you give someone by doing something unexpected for them?  The smile on their face (or perhaps even astonished look!) will warm the cockles of your heart.
  • Still Fighting
Posted on Friday, December 5th, 2008 in Bodily Functions - Views: (32)
A cold; The cold war; The war on apathy; Learning the difference between apathy and empathy.Still fighting the never ending battle against truth, justice, and poor grammar.Still fighting for the right to live life in peace and harmony.  Where good things come to good people; And people get what they deserve; And what goes around comes around. In case you haven’t realized I’m trying to set a world’s record for the most semi-colons in one blog posting.
  • Cold Weather Leads to…
Posted on Wednesday, December 3rd, 2008 in Bodily Functions - Views: (32)
Colds.  I don’t care what people say that you can’t get a cold from a chill.  And that it’s a virus and the only way to get it is to come in contact with someone with a cold.  I say the cold (as in weather not the illness) reduces ones resistance, hence we are more receptive to succumbing to the virus.

What the heck are they do-do-doing?Jets/Mets.  If you’re a fan of either one, you should invest in Tums and/or Rolaids.  If you’re a fan of both I hope you own a parachute.Crash and burn.It truly can’t be fun to be a Jets fan.  So much disappointment.  So much heartache.  So much heartburn. It was almost painful to watch.
  • Keeping Your Promises: Saving for College with 529 Plans and Upromise
Posted on Tuesday, December 2nd, 2008 in children - Views: (218)
A college degree has never been more important. In fact, students who obtain one earn an additional $1 million in income over their lifetime, on average, according to a 2001 College Board Study. But paying for that degree gets tougher every year. Tuition costs have grown at twice the rate of inflation over the past 15 years (Stiglitz & Tyson, 2000). Many parents take second jobs, work overtime, or mortgage their retirement to cover college costs.
  • It’s About to Snow
Posted on Thursday, December 18th, 2008 in Cars - Views: (29)
So they say.  They’re right sometimes.  Wrong more often.  But, the word on the street is that we’re due a decent amount of snow starting late tomorrow morning. I figure that this is a good time for me then to end my vacation since it’s entirely possible that I’ll be holed up with little more to do than twiddly my thumbs, clean the house (for a change), scrub the bathrooms (that would be a first), vaccuum the house (I’ve been caught doing that on occassion — which is why I try to do it in the middle of the night while everyone is sleeping), refinish the hardwood floors (umm, I think it’s the middle of the night and I’m sleeping too — no wait, that’s Webster snoring).
  • And So The Conversation Turns
Posted on Sunday, December 7th, 2008 in Birthday - Views: (33)
The clock ticks on… birthday’s come and birthday’s go.  Tommy’s extended birthday celebration ended with an ice cream cake, and a trip to the movies to see “Madagascar:  Escape 2 Africa”.  A full review is on the Squirrel Forum.  Tommy will reach double digits next year.  I remember my 10th birthday.  It was a big deal to make it to double digits.
