My Daily Bread
Cinnamon Toast. Period. End of post.
French Toast.
Bagels. Though they must be NY Style… boiled then baked.
Matzohs.
Flat Bread.
I really could have stopped at Cinnamon toast… but that wouldn’t be all encompassing. And there’s one bread that I had almost forgotten all about. I got a nibble on it a few weeks ago. I could have eaten the whole loaf. Do you know what I’m talking about?
I’m talking about the kind of bread that when your nose gets a hold of its holy aroma that you fall in to a hopeless trance… your body involuntarily walking (or running) to follow the scent… your mouth starts to salivate… knowing that the texture of the slightly crispy crust followed by the almost cake-like, slightly dryer, meat of the interior of the bread that is laced with caraway seeds….
This can only be found in a bakery. Never in a supermarket.
A good jewish rye bread is truly manna from heaven.
Enough writing.
