Happy Earth Day!!

What have you done to save the earth and make the world a better place for all of us and for future generations?

Here are a few suggestions that I’ve come across:

  • From now on, I will return the reusable shopping bags to the car as soon as they’re unpacked, so that I don’t forget to bring them to the store and wind up using plastic again.
  • From now on, all laundry will be done in cold water.
  • Purchase carbon offset coupons when I travel by air.
  • Switch out your most used incandescent lights with compact florescent lights.
  • Turn off unneeded lights.
  • Put electronics on switches.
  • Don’t let water to just run.
  • Take shorter showers or share a shower.
  • Water lawns at night.
  • Keep your tires properly inflated.
  • Plan your driving to reduce trips.
  • Don’t be an aggressive/impulsive driver.
  • Buy more fuel efficient vehicles.
  • Clean house — You wouldn’t believe the dangerous concoctions Americans use on a daily basis to get rid of mostly natural occurrences such as dirt, dust and mildew. Resolve to replace all your noxious cleaning products with environmental ones.
  • Revitalize the three Rs — Remember the environmental experiment in alliteration known as “Reduce, Reuse, Recycle?”.
  • Save trees and reduce waste by canceling your junk mail.
  • Give up bottled water. According to the NRDC, tests show it’s not necessarily safer than tap water, plus the manufacturing and shipping of the bottles gobbles up petroleum and energy and most bottles wind up in landfills or incinerators.

What are you doing?
