  • Open Call to HGTV Message Board Members
Posted on Thursday, June 11th, 2009 in Blogs - Views: (136)
It was about 10 months ago that we were talking with a few members of the HGTV Message Board, and they expressed dissatisfaction with the way that their Message Boards were being moderated.  All I heard was a constant barrage of complaints that people’s thoughts/comments/posts were being deleted from the HGTV Message Boards and they were totally frustrated.Being the kind hearted souls that we are.
  • e-mail Etiquette
Posted on Thursday, June 4th, 2009 in etiquette - Views: (45)
I have few pet peeves in this world… But, I do have a few with the way some people use e-mail.Here are a few of my peeves. People who reply without copying the original e-mail, or citing part of the original e-mail.  I’m not a mind reader, and I don’t remember everything that I ever wrote to everyone. Lack of basic punctuation.
  • Happy Father’s Day!
Posted on Sunday, June 21st, 2009 in children - Views: (43)
My life changed (for the better) the day my son was born.  I can’t believe it has just about been six years ago.Every year I get to watch him grow.  From a baby to a young boy.  From the first few words out of his mouth to the precious, “I love you, Daddy”’s.  Knowing he was in school (kindergarten) this past week making a Father’s Day card and present for me.
  • What Kids Do During the Summer
Posted on Tuesday, June 9th, 2009 in children - Views: (61)
What are you doing with your kids this summer?  School is just about over.  Sorry to break that bit of bad news to some of your parents.  And, if you haven’t thought about how you’re going to entertain them for the 10 or so weeks before school starts again in September, you could be in for a long long summer.I’ve thoughts of a few things that you could do.
  • T-21 Hours ’til the 2009 Belmont Stakes

Who’s going to win? Will there be a Jockey winning the personal Triple Crown (riding the winner of each leg of the Triple Crown)?  It’s never been done before, but can be done if Mine That Bird wins and gives Jockey Borel victories in the Kentucky Derby (on Mine the Bird) and the Preakness Stake (aboard Rachel Alexander). Will Mine that Bird prove that he’s not a fluke?
  • It Started as a Slow and Steady Drip…
Posted on Sunday, June 14th, 2009 in Blogs - Views: (43)
And now it’s a torrential storm.A downpour of members lining up to register for the Squirrel Forum.  Where are they coming from?  As I mentioned a few days ago on this blog, they’re pilgrims fleeing the HGTV Message Boards. We’re heard stories of their oppression, their opinions being squelched.  Voices no long heard.  Exiled.  With no place to go.  Except for the one refuge that was opened up to them about 10 months ago.
  • Life Insurance Protection for the Stay-at-Home Spouse
Posted on Monday, June 1st, 2009 in Family - Views: (49)
Some families choose to have one parent work outside the home while the other stays home to take care of children. Other families are forced into such a situation by limited childcare availability or other circumstances. In either case, most people would agree that the wage earner in any family should have life insurance protection. After all, how would the family survive without a breadwinner’s income?
