Pain

Why do teeth hurt so much when they hurt? Or, I guess more technically correct would be to ask why do the nerves hurt so much when they’re aggravated? Honestly, I don’t know and I don’t care. But, I would like the pain to go away soon.

Perhaps I should have been a Dentist. But, then again no. I wouldn’t be able to capitalize on all the work that has been done in my mouth. Con Edison should get a piece of this action. I could enumerate the number of Dentist’s offspring that I’ve put through college, but that sounds too much like complaining. And who wants to hear a Complainer complaining? Especially when the Complainer is in pain? Now I truly understand the expression that Complainers are a pain. Which came first? The complaint or the pain?

You know when I felt no pain?…. **WARNING: This thread is about to go off on a sharp tangent** … when the fish, rock, equipment started coming out of my reef tank. When the first piece of rock came out I literally breathed a sigh of relief. There’s really a lot of stress when the well-being of those that you care for are totally dependent upon YOU. And, when they cannot vocalize their feelings, and all you have to go by are their signs of distress, one can feel so helpless. It’s all well and good when everyone is healthy, happy, and swimming around so carefree and full of joy. But, when you see a symptom here, a symptom there, and you don’t know what the proper course of action is, you feel their pain…. which becomes your pain…. which makes you wish you were a veterinarian or doctor. But, then you remember that you’re a squeamish wuss.

So what is one to do? The obvious answer is not to ignore the symptoms. Symptoms happen. Heed them.

Where’s my friggin’ advil???
